About Us
STORY OF CRUMBUNS
My name is Joanne Emberson — The baker and store owner of Crumbuns Bakeshop, established in 2016. All of my creations are a labour of love and in tribute to my Granny, Anne Emberson. The name “Crumbuns” is a direct nod to Granny! My Grandpa called my Granny his Crumbun as a term of endearment.
When I was younger and my grandmother was in the hospital, I would bake her treats to cheer her up. I promised her that I would open up a bakery in her honour, and through hard work was able to make that become a reality for the both of us. Our location on Concession Street is just blocks from where my Granny lived for many years before her passing in 2010.
We offer a creative assortment of handmade confections & baked goods using only the best ingredients, We have been voted Hamilton’s best Buttertart! And well known for our Buttertart Ice Cream Sandwich!

SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY
Crumbuns Bakeshop values the importance of being able to pay it forward, and does so by donating proceeds from two of our baked goods (“Nate’s Candy Cookies” and “Carter’s Buttons”) to a nearby hospital. These two menu items are made in memory of my family members that sadly lost their lives to cancer.
Crumbuns also works with local suppliers to source fresh and authentic ingredients, and support other local businesses in the neighbourhood. Some examples include: locally roasted craft coffee by Command Coffee as well as handmade pierogies made from locally sourced ingredients by Stuffed. Take a peek inside the Stuffed location to find some of our delicious desserts, too!
